Joel and his wife Mary Ann came to faith in Jesus as college students through the influence of Joel’s sister and some close friends. Wanting to further engage in their new faith, they attended and served in a college ministry at lowa State University. That student ministry planted Cornerstone Church in Ames, lowa. Joel and Mary Ann were founding members and served in many capacities on the church plant. Joel is an architect and real estate agent, lives on Sanibel, and spends summers in South Dakota. Joel has been a member at SCC since 2012 and has served on the previous Church Council, been active in the youth ministry and currently leads a home Bible study. He has also served the Sanibel community in many leadership roles. Joel and Mary Ann have been married for 33 years. They have four adult children and 2 grandchildren.
